Excelsiorienta, a careers guidance portal to raise students’ awareness about green, digital and entrepreneurial skills.

Excelsiorienta’s new version is finally online! You can find it at https://excelsiorienta.unioncamere.it/
Excelsiorienta comes with a completely renewed graphic design, with new contents and a new version of the OrientaGame, the student self-assessment quiz based on gamification.
Developed by Unioncamere (the Italian Union of Chambers of Commerce), Excelsiorienta is an online hub for careers guidance/exploration, specifically designed to provide guidance for lower and upper secondary schools’ students. The platform supports not only students, but also their families and teachers: its main purpose is to highlight educational and job opportunities available to young people, fostering a clearer understanding of possible future paths.
Excelsiorienta and Excelsior Information System
Excelsiorienta is linked to the dataset of the Excelsior Information System Survey (https://excelsior.unioncamere.net) and is annually updated to provide the latest labour market data, to help students in decision-making about their possible training paths and career opportunities.
Established in 1997 by Unioncamere, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and the European Union, Excelsior Information System is one of Italy’s major sources of info about the labour market and training.
Through the analysis of planned hirings by over 1 million 300 thousand companies, Excelsior Information System offers a constantly updated overview of the development trends and the main qualitative features of labour demand in Italy, providing extremely useful information in supporting training planning processes, guidance activities and the active labour policies of Government, Regions and other public institutions.
Excelsiorienta offers strategic information on the labour market and on how to improve your skills
Excelsiorienta offers key tools including a self-assessment quiz (OrientaGame), information about occupations and career paths (Career Guide), information about green and ICT jobs, advice for those who wish to start their own business after education (Entrepreneurship Guide).
Excelsiorienta promotes lifelong learning and the development of green, digital and entrepreneurial skills right from school.
Excelsiorienta, new features of the most recent release
The new look of the Excelsiorienta website was developed following the AGID (Agenzia per l’Italia Digitale, National Digitisation Agency) guidelines for accessibility, thus ensuring easy use by everyone.
Sections and features of the new website are:
- Career Guide: an organized and easily searchable library of several occupations and career pathways. Students are encouraged to explore different career opportunities, in order to make more informed decisions.
- News: advice, guidance, and practical tips on entrepreneurial, green, digital skills and all information about VET, HE, ITS Academy and labour market evolution. The portal also makes the consultation of the large number of articles more accessible through a new content organization in four macro-areas (“Emerging economic sectors”, “Entrepreneurship”, “ITS Academy”, “New professions/New trades”) and sections dedicated to students and teachers.
- OrientaGame: a self-assessment quiz, designed in a new version by the University of Bologna, with the aim of helping students in better understanding themselves by answering questions based on values, talents and abilities. Students get an ‘identikit’ of their “study” personality as result. Innovation is also about the opportunity for teachers to use test for guidance activities: they can access a reserved area to manage, monitor and analyze students’ test results in a simple and intuitive way. Such innovation offers advanced tools to customise the guidance experience and strategically exploit data.
