After several months of preparation from our project team, a competitive selection process and online pre-departure preparations, we are proud to share that the EntreComp4Transition International Student Mobility successfully concluded in April 2025.
The project team extends a warm congratulations to the students who travelled across Europe to take part in this collaboration, and a huge thank you to the local companies and trainers for guiding the learning experience. As a multinational exchange, students travelled from their home countries of Austria, Belgium, Italy, Spain and Türkiye to another of these countries to experience not only professional challenges but also to enjoy local culture and build new relationships. Additionally, several students stayed in their home country to act as ‘local hosts’ to the incoming cohorts.
During the mobility, our students had the opportunity to collaborate with local companies and to develop solutions to help them on the path to sustainability.
As part of the programme, the EntreComp4Transition partners had the chance to interview several of the participating companies to hear their thoughts on the importance of sustainability programmes, and their plans for future development. Following this, students were also invited to share their experiences working with the companies and their fellow students, and how this experience has prepared them for future professional challenges.
You can now watch highlights from each country’s experience and hear directly from the companies and students involved:
Austria
Die Zuckerlwerkstatt GmbH is a small, artisan candy company based in Vienna and Salzburg, known for its handmade sweets and historic recipes. Since 2013, they’ve combined traditional techniques with modern creativity to produce treats like silk candies, jellies, and custom motif sweets. With a strong focus on sustainability and regional partnerships, the company invites the public to experience candy-making through live workshops and city-centre shops.
As part of their involvement in the student mobility project, Die Zuckerlwerkstatt welcomed a group of students and assigned four mentors, including the Managing Director. He worked closely with the team, sharing insights into company strategy and operations. The students were given a dedicated space to meet and collaborate on a real-world challenge: how to build a more sustainable and innovative production model in a busy urban setting.
After analysing the company’s current practices, the students saw that sustainability was already a strength. They shifted focus toward supporting the company’s “twin transition” improving digital tools while continuing to grow in environmentally responsible ways. Their final proposal featured a primarily digital solution, helping the company stay connected to its heritage while embracing the future.
