Entrepreneurship and Leadership Course by TOBB University of Economics and Technology

TOBB ETU International Entrepreneurship Department offers “Entrepreneurship and Leadership” course to a total of approximately 900 students every academic year. The course is a must course in the curriculum of all academic departments (except the medicine school) and provides students with the opportunity to learn from leading experts in the field, while also gaining practical experience in developing a business plan.

What does the course offer?

As part of the course, students participate in a group project aimed at developing a comprehensive business plan, providing a platform for students to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting. The course is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to start and grow a successful business. Throughout the course, students are introduced to various aspects of entrepreneurship, including market analysis, product development, financial planning, and marketing strategies. The group project allows students to put their newfound knowledge into practice by working together to develop a business plan for a new venture.

The challenge

This project challenges students to think creatively and strategically, helping them to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills that are essential in the business world. The course provides students with a valuable and hands-on learning experience that prepares them for a successful career in entrepreneurship. In addition to lectures and the project study, the course also features guest speakers who are successful entrepreneurs, offering insights and advice from their own experiences in launching and growing a business. The guest speakers provide valuable perspectives on various aspects of entrepreneurship, such as fundraising, team-building, and scaling up.

An inspiring lecture

This week, an inspiring lecture delivered to the class of 141 students and a renowned entrepreneur shared his journey of launching an online ticketing platform. Cem Birol, the co-founder of biletino.com, who has pioneered many firsts in online ticketing in Turkey was the guest speaker at the course. The lecture covered various aspects of entrepreneurship, including the challenges and opportunities that come with starting and growing a business. The speaker’s personal story was a source of motivation for the attendees, many of whom are aspiring entrepreneurs. The lecture ended with a question and answer session, allowing students to engage with the speaker and gain valuable insights from his experience.
